About the project

'The Drift' is a 30 minute campaign made using the Doom Snapmap Editor as part of a University project. The entire campaign was designed and scripted within 5 days by a team of 5 people.

Brief Overview

While playing 'The Drift', players take control of a U.A.C. soldier who must go back in time to stop an alien invasion from happening.

An alien invasion took place around 10 years ago because of a failed laboratory experiment which reduced the world to ruins. In the present day, a single soldier had been sent to try and reverse the alien invasion by using U.A.C. timeshift devices. These devices are scattered around the laboratory where the alien invasion initially took place. The timeshift devices can transport a person back and forth through the fabric of time.

The player must make use of these timeshift devices to travel back and forth in time and clear obstacles. Eventally, the player must find a way to the location from where the alien invasion initially took place and go back in time to prevent it from happening, thus saving the world from being taken over by the aliens.

The design

'The Drift' uses a mixture of platforming, puzzles and enemy wave fight sequences to keep the player's experience fresh throughout the campaign. Below are a couple of screenshots of the maps from the Snapmap editor.
